Do you accept my insurance plan?

Q SDMI accepts most insurance plans.

Q Do you accept payment plans?
Q SDMI generally does not accept payment plans, but exceptions can be accomodated in extreme financial hardship cases.

Q Is your facility accredited by American College of Radiology?
Q Yes, each of our four (4) facilities is fully accredited by the American College of Radiology, additionally, our Mammography, Ultrasound, and MRI departments are individually accredited by the American College of Radiology.

Q Are your technologists registered in their modalities?
Q Yes, SDMI only hires registered technologists.

Q Are technologists medical doctors?
Q No, technologists are trained in general x-rays and, if they choose, a specific modality such as mammography.

Q What does a technologist do?
Q The technologists are trained to properly position patients for each diagnostic procedure and to operate the corresponding diagnostic equipment.

Q What is a radiologist?
Q A radiologist is a medical doctor who specializes in diagnostic radiology.

Q Are your radiologists board certified?
Q Yes. All of our radiologists are board certified by the American Board of Radiology. Additionally, several of our doctors hold certification in subspecialty areas such as neuroradiology and interventional radiology

Q Will I have to miss work?
Q Most of our procedures are routine and allow you to immediately return to work. There are some procedures that requires bed rest. We also provide Saturday and after hours on some locations. The amount of time you will miss from work depends on the procedure and you, the individual.

Q Is radiation safe?
Q Indeed, if your doctor has referred you for a diagnostic procedure, he / she feels the small amount of radiation is less harmfull than an undiagnosed problem or disease.

Q Do the treatments hurt?
Q Most of the diagnostic procedures involve no discomfort whatsoever. However, some of the more invasive procedures may cause some mild discomfort.
