Now SDMI is rolling out the latest advancements in 3D mammography by placing the Senographe Pristina mammography system by GE in all eight of its Southern Nevada locations. The Senographe Pristina mammography system was designed by a team of women to provide a more comfortable experience for the patient. Introduced in Mar. 2017, the Pristina features a range of ergonomic features that are intentionally designed to enable patients to be more comfortable. All parts in contact with the patient's breasts, for example, have gentle, rounded corners for greater comfort. The system features comfortable armrests that relax the pectoral muscles to simplify positioning, compression and image acquisition. Other studies have found that painful exams are a major reason why some women fail to return for further breast imaging. GE Healthcare determined that effective pain-reducing interventions in mammography are needed to encourage more women to come in for a screening. “Unfortunately, there are so many misconceptions about getting a mammogram,” said Dr. Shah. “But technology has advanced so much in the past few years. The Pristina was designed to make the experience as comfortable for the patient as possible. If the patient has a more positive experience, they are going to be more likely to come back and have their annual mammogram.
