At Steinberg Diagnostic Medical Imaging(SDMI), we continuously work to improve your imaging experience. That's why we're excited to introduce the Canon Vantage Galan 3T Supreme Edition MRI—currently available exclusively at SDMI.
This new scanner is part of our ongoing commitment to patient comfort, advanced technology, and accurate diagnostics. While the Canon Vantage Galan 3T Supreme Edition is an exciting addition, it's just one piece of the comprehensive, high-quality imaging services available across all SDMI locations.
Comfort Comes Standard at SDMI
The Vantage Galan 3T Supreme Edition enhances this even further with the latest version of Canon's sound-reducing technology, Pianissimo Zen™, and a 71 cm wide bore that helps ease feelings of claustrophobia or anxiety. However, it's important to note that comfort and image quality are attributes of all MRI equipment at SDMI—not just this one scanner.
Is 3T Always Better?
The 3T MRI (referring to the strength of the magnet—3 Tesla) offers incredibly detailed images, making it ideal for certain types of scans such as:
Neurological imaging (brain and spine)
Musculoskeletal scans (joints, tendons, and cartilage)
Some types of cancer detection
However, bigger isn't always better. Sometimes, a 1.5T MRI may be the better choice, depending on the body part being scanned or the condition your doctor is evaluating. For example, a 1.5T MRI is often preferred for abdominal or pelvic imaging because it's less sensitive to movement from breathing or digestion.
MRI Safety: Screening Is Key
Because MRI uses a strong magnet, it's essential to know if you have any metal implants or medical devices. Some are perfectly safe, while others may need special instructions or be unsafe for MRI.
That's why safety screening starts at the time of scheduling. When you book your appointment, we'll ask key questions about any implants, prior surgeries, or devices you may have. This information lets us plan your scan safely and effectively and provide the proper care for your needs.
If you're unsure about any device in your body, just let us know—we're here to help guide you through the process safely.
