PET Scheduler - Call Center - NW Administration locationObtain pertinent medical information necessary to seek authorization from insurance companies to ensure timely testing and processing of claims. Establish strong clinical relationships with referring providers. Other duties may include but not limited to: Process all pertinent clinical information received in a timely manner to ensure authorization from insurance companies. Prioritize and process insurance eligibility information for patient appointments. Coordinate and schedule exams, follow-up appointments as designated by physicians. Interact with patients’, physicians and other staff both within the Center and at outside facilities providing accurate, timely and responsive information. Coordinate processes and route all paperwork as required to meet physician and facility requirements. Ensure efficient telephone communication. Follow all written protocols and procedures of the call center. Demonstrate courtesy, helpfulness, and optimal customer service toward patients and their families. Scan all pertinent referrals and clinical information received in a timely manner. May perform other job related duties as necessary for the efficient operation of SDMI.

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 1 year experience as a medical receptionist or related experience and or training or equivalent combination of education and experience along with a strong knowledge of coding.
  • Schedule mutually acceptable appointment times for patients and physicians using computerized scheduling system.
  • Follow all written protocols and procedures of the Center.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, helpfulness, and optimal customer service toward patients and their families.
  • Document work processes as required.
  • Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent / emergent situations per protocols.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff and management.
  • Effectively cope with typical job stress.
  • Knowledge of Medical terminology, ICD-9 / CPT Coding.
  • Basic typing and keyboarding skills with minimum of 30 wpm
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills (excellent phone etiquette).
  • Experience with customer service and multi-line phones.
  • Familiarity with computers and other office equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities.
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
  • Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in person, by phone and in writing.
  • Knowledge of contracted insurance plans and procedures.
  • Skill in organizing time to accommodate changes in workload and assignments in order to complete tasks in a timely manner.
