Every day is a victory after a cancer diagnosis and Steinberg Diagnostic Medical Imaging is proud to have the opportunity to bring some “pink light” into the lives of local Breast Cancer survivors and forever fighters. Cancer Survivors Day falls on the first Saturday of June and this year SDMI joined forces with Susan G Komen, to host a luncheon in honor of 150+ local Las Vegas survivors. The event was held on the beautiful grounds of Wayne Newton’s Estate, known as Casa de Shenandoah.Guests were shuttled onto the grounds of the estate and entered the lobby of the car museum. While waiting for the event to begin, guests were greeted by performers from Magic Mike Live, currently showing at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Boo the painting monkey with best friend Honey the Chihuahua, both full time residents at Casa de Shenandoah.  Guests were welcome to tour the airplane which is adjacent to the car museum’s lobby, enjoy Wayne Newton memorabilia and take fun photos at the hosted photo booth to capture memories from the day.The memorable luncheon program was hosted by local celebrity, Zenja Dunn of 105.7FM, who is not a stranger to the fight against Breast Cancer. Ms. Dunn brought her mother, a breast cancer survivor, as a guest to the event.  Tony nominated actor, Bob Torti, gave a heartfelt tribute to a dear friend of his, SDMI and Susan G Komen, Gil Ben-Kely, a 2-time breast cancer survivor who tragically passed this February. Guests were treated to an uplifting acoustic performance by Miss Clark County 2017, Andrea Martinez, and guitarist VaShawn Nash.Dr. Aanshu Shah, radiologist and Director of Women’s Imaging at SDMI gave attendees an exciting presentation about Tomosynthesis, or 3D mammography, and the future of new technologies and advancement for diagnosing women. Attendees were the first to hear about SDMI’s latest technology, the newest 3D Mammography units from GE Healthcare called Pristina. Pristina is designed with patient comfort in mind and installation is set to begin July 2017. More information on Pristina will be announced in the coming months.“Perhaps the single most important advancement in medical imaging to benefit women is happening right now. 3D mammography revolutionizes how we read mammograms. We will find more cancers, have fewer call backs AND cause less stress and anxiety to patients.  I have been so fortunate to witness these tremendous changes and I am so excited and proud to help bring this new life-saving technology to women in Las Vegas,” said Dr. Shah.An emotional day ended with a Survivors and Forever Fighters fashion show where eight survivors were selected as models and had their stories highlighted. Escorted by Clark County Firefighters down the catwalk, the models showcased clothing from local retailers: Driven Boutique (5165 S. Fort Apache Road), and Tommy Bahamas (Fashion Show Mall). The men of CCFD got their chance to work the runway as they showed off the latest in men’s fashion from Dillard’s (Fashion Show Mall). For the full red carpet experience, local hair & makeup artists volunteered their services. The luncheon was sponsored by SDMI “this is an event that I am honored to be a part of, we hope to create an annual event that can honor not just breast cancer survivors but all cancer survivors.” Said Denielle Lucas, Marketing Director for Steinberg Diagnostic Medical Imaging. To see highlights from the luncheon click here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1K1iOudYj4
