Pediatric MRI Arthrogram

This test is going to a take a little bit because it has 2 parts. The first part is a special type of x-ray that take pictures of your joints (elbows, knees, ankles) after you receive a contrast injection. Contrast is a liquid that allows the doctor to see the soft tissue between the bones. After the X-Ray you go over to MRI, you can learn more about that here.

This section of our website is dedicated to helping Mom & Dad explain to their child what they can expect when they visit SDMI.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are the lights in the MRI room so bright?
arrow pointing down on sdmi lv website

Some MRI exams require an IV injection, it is important for our technologists to have good lighting to be able to start an IV. If the light is too bright and uncomfortable please alert your technologist. We have eye/sleep masks available, these masks also help with claustrophobia and you get to keep it after your exam.

Why is it so cold in the MRI room?

MRI Machines use very powerful magnets to achieve the highest quality images. These magnets produce heat and need to be kept cold to function properly. If you feel too cold during your exam please alert your technologist and they will be happy to provide you with a blanket.
